A successful garden is a unique and harmonious union of a place, a human imagination, and a gathering of plants. It literally and figuratively emerges from the landscape as our creative vision meshes with the particulars of the garden's place – its microclimates, topography, soil, dimensions and features, and other characteristics. Our imagination engages with our surroundings, and up grows a garden. Eureka! – we have found it.

Our primary goal at Discovered Gardens is to help you find and maintain the beautiful garden that is waiting to be brought forth from your yard – to work together to design and sustain a landscape that fits your site and tastes and lifestyle and activities and the other particulars of your place and your life. A landscape that expresses who and where you are.

What we discover together will be a garden that not only is beautiful, but that also is thrifty in every way. When a garden and its plants fit their place, there's no need to pour time and labor and chemicals into maintaining plantings that are culturally (and otherwise) ill-suited to their surroundings. Instead of opposing the forces of nature, the well-designed and well-maintained garden works with them from inception onward. It is as easy on the budget and on the environment as it is on the eyes.

Of course no garden is maintenance-free – which is why we also provide expert help and advice in maintaining your garden.
